A song about the difficulty those experiencing severe mental health issues have obtaining and sustaining appropriate treatment, particularly in an underfunded public health system. With the closure of residential inpatient faculties in the 90's the streets and the jails have become the home of many sufferers of severe mental health illnesses.

Lyrics

Confusions and Delusions (Gillespie/Grosser) c Songbroker Publishing 2021

1) Confusions and delusions – do they ever get you down?
These things I need to know about you.
Confusions and delusions in your head they spin around
Don’t let these things confound you.

2) Confusions and delusions – do they ever get you down?
These things we need to know about you.
Confusions and delusions -a rich world of fantasy
This mystery surrounds you.

Bridge: In the heat of the day and in the darkest night
Your face it re-appears it’s such a ghostly sight
And voices talk to me I hear every word they say
“These are the things that we find”

3) Confusion and delusions – a rich world of fantasy
Don’t let these things confound you
Confusion and delusions - balance up your chemistry
And this mystery surrounds you.

Bridge: And if I ever built a wall around myself
And if I tried to do without somebody else
And if I ever seemed unreasonable
I was only just trying to find a cure for..

Confusion and delusions

4) “Confusions and delusions – do they ever get you down?
These things I need to know about you”.
Transfusions and infusions – balance up your chemistry
Smooth the edginess about you

Bridge: Gravel paths and freshly scented lawns
Pristine and orderly –here just sign these forms
And close the door and put me out on the street
Now my home is the shoes upon my feet.

Confusions and delusions
Confusions and delusions
Confusions and delusions
Confusions and delusions
