Every Night I Thank The Lord (for making me so trendy) Wayne Gillespie c 1984 –Key Eb
Wayward Son Album Version.

Intro:

Well I have spent my life being clever and so charming
I know that there are some of you may find this tale alarming
I came from a good family; you know that we were never poor
And though my father was an accountant...I rebelled and I studied Law.

Verse 1:

Yes I drink scotch & I don’t wear socks underneath my sneakers
It’s not hard to tell that I dress well, in fact better than most sheilas
I’m into Talking Heads and waterbeds and I drive a Ford Capri
Which I park outside my villa in the heart of Ponsonby

Chorus:
There’s not a hair out of place on my cultured face and money I’ve got plenty
Yes every night I thank the Lord … for making me so Trendy.

Verse 2
I’ve been through adolescence, opalescence, marriage and divorce
So now I wear gold chains and French cologne to hide my remorse
I go to plays, frequent café’s, I’m part of the cappuccino set
And when I swim at Puaunui … I don’t seem to get wet

Chorus:
There’s not a hair out of place on my cultured face and money I’ve got plenty
Yes every night I thank the Lord. for making me so Trendy.

Verse 3
Well I sail on Yachts, go to the Trots, in wintertime I ski
I bought a video so I can show blue movies on TV
I’ve got an outdoor bar and an indoor spa and when I invite the neighbours
‘Round for a smoke I roll the dope … in strawberry flavoured papers.

Chorus:
There’s not a hair out of place on my cultured face and money I’ve got plenty
Yes every night I thank the Lord for making me so Trendy.

Verse 4

Well at my soirees half the guys a gay and the others they just look happy
And all the women wear that slinky gear, like those girls in Karangahape
And though I like to rage I don’t show my age , you know I’m well into my thirties
But still I keep pretty fit and I don’t fall sick… although once I did get Herpes

Chorus:
There’s not a hair out of place on my cultured face and money I’ve got plenty
Yes every night I thank the Lord for making me so Trendy x 2
